The degree to which the Democratic Party is failing to meet this moment is staggering. And INFURIATING, when contrasted with the courage on display from ordinary people with far, far less power & protection.

And that's without even considering the dimension added by criminalization & mass incarceration.

"But now that people are REALLY suffering, they'll probably join our next march!"

The system that the US has built to contain & manage poverty is also *designed* to inhibit mass mobilization. It allocates far too little in the way of resources and then imposes categories of need/vulnerability/merit to determine who gets helped first, working perfectly to divide-and-conquer.

I'd vote coyote, especially with those ropy twists of fur in there. I've seen plenty of coyote poop get like this when they over-indulge on fruit & berries.

Or if the line was: "Stand by the gray stone when the thrush starts to sing at least an hour before the first light of Durin's Day, because this particular thrush is a noisy asshole who is completely unable to wait until sunrise."

It's beautiful! I've been redoing the yard along one side of my house (helped along by a sewer-main thing that required total excavation, whee), and wish I'd taken more 'before' photos. Your new garden is really lovely.
