Blue tongue skink can be offered eggs as a treat every once per month or so. In the wild, they consume a variety of food, including eggs. They can eat both and raw eggs, including chicken and quail eggs, and they may even eat the shells for the calcium

All dog care operators must have an enrichment program. This program is to include:
1. Grooming: E.g Brushing coats or towel dying if wet
2. Socialisation: E.g Describing meaningful interactions with other dogs/operator
3. Play: Highlighting what toys/games are available

Animal welfare standards have improved so much for many species but sadly, more needs to be done. Fish are a prime example of this.

Selling fish in barren tanks is not a good welfare practice, especially when studies show how tank decoration can be important #pet

Snakes get calcium from their food, and I often hear they do not need UV. But…Ball pythons (pictured) have been shown to seek out UV for basking opportunities. For me, offering UV gives opportunities to engage in natural behaviours and is best practice

Boa constrictors can live 20+years and get over10feet. This boa was taken in as the owner could not provide enough space. This type of animal is a huge commitment and should be carefully thought about. This upgrade allowed him to climb and fully stretch #boa #snakehousing #snakes #snakeenrichment

Food enrichment like these Brussel sprouts can be great, but always research new items. Sprouts for example can be difficult for guinea pigs to digest and are only safe to eat in moderation. These guys loved their one off treat and had no problems #erichement #guineapigs

Pet shops sell small rabbit houses and people do not realise how much space rabbits need. The Rabbit Welfare Association recommends a minimum enclosure size for two bonded rabbits is 3m x 2m x 1m high. Inside there should be plenty of things to keep them happy #rabbits #rabbithousing #petwelfare
