Everybody who was familiar with Nowak's research knew. Epstein shows up in the acknowledgments of every Nowak paper from the right time frame. For example here:

I remember reading this when papers such as this one were published and wondering who J. Epstein was.

I don't think anybody needs to know pandas. You can just write polars code and ask Claude to translate to pandas. ;-)

Every time I see pandas code my reaction is "why does it have to be so complicated?" I don't know pandas well enough to have real pet flaws, but again I've seen experienced pandas coders code and to me it looks like they're constantly fighting with their tools.

(*) That this is possible at all is insane. The website was showing me one paper and when I submitted my review it applied it to a different paper. Be careful with the new Springer review system.
