I’m not surprised by the controversy over the Ontario government’s ads: Reagan is revered in America while Trump is reviled.
Check out Reagan's quotes I included in the essay I wrote in this fine book.
Thanks for reading and keep your sticks on the ice!

Canada the 51st state? Not on our lives.
I was one of 10 writers from the Great Big White North who contributed a chapter to this fine volume. My essay was titled "Canada the 49th: The True North, Strong and Free! The View of America From Windsor, Ontario.”

On the day we celebrated my brother's life, I learned Rush announced they are touring again. I think Dave would have approved. I plan to bring his Snakes and Arrows t-shirt to the Toronto show.
Let's all celebrate the moment, as it turns into one more.

Italo Calvino, who shuffled off this moral coil on this day in 1985, was one of the greats.

My belated review of Joseph Heath’s fine book. It makes sense even today. Especially today.
Thanks for reading.

Happy, humble and honoured to announce my poem was the Editor’s Choice winner for Gently Mad magazine’s contest.
If you or someone you know is in a dark place, I hope you/they find the way to the light inside.

On this day in 1833, Bernard (Barney) Flaherty became America’s first ‘newsboy', hawking copies of The New York Sun on the city’s streets. Ali Akbar, reportedly the last newspaper hawker in Paris, is still going strong after more than 50 years.
Some traditions refuse to die.

So Donald Trump has a medical condition known as “chronic brainus insufficiency.” Why is this considered news?

On this day 10 years ago, I was at the Air Canada Centre to witness Rush’s last show in their hometown — the one they recorded as their R40 concert.
Funny, but my ticket ‘stub’ doesn’t include the band’s name. That should be sacrilege!

Excellent account of Leonardo da Vinci, who left many things unfinished and asked himself: “Tell me if anything was ever done. Tell me. Tell me. Tell me if ever I did a thing…Tell me if anything was ever made.”
Most people would argue Leonardo da Vinci left us one or two things that were special.
