Dazzling novella-in-flash @fionamckay.bsky.social. It weaves sections about motherhood and Kate's marriage to an extremely controlling husband with fairy tales retold from a feminist lens. Gorgeous prose, deeply moving.

I'd be grateful if you can send links for flash stories where climate change plays a role. I'd like my students to write these kinds of stories for an assignment, but I don't have many models. Thanks!

I adore @megpokrass.bsky.social's book, Old Girls and Palm Trees, beautiful stories about friendship and aging. The old girl walks on a tight rope, the two old girls are visited by a fox, propose to their cat: "just the sound of her name is a wedding gown." Such joy and wit in these stories!

Animals fill these remarkable stories by @kimsrogers.bsky.social Seals, whales, birds, pigs, rats, sometimes on their own, sometimes with humans. The stories glow with tenderness, humor, sorrow. Dazzling read in a gorgeous collection of mini-chaps edited by the terrific @dianegotauthor.bsky.social

My beloved dad is dying. I'm grateful that a few days ago my sibs and I sat with him on his bed sharing memories and reading poems and prayers to him. He managed some smiles and said he loved us. Then asked for us to pose with him for a picture. Here he is in healthier times.

Can you please help? I'm teaching segmented flash fiction and have some great pieces, but they all carry so much grief. Any links to segmented flash that has some hope or grace?

“I saw her slip out of the house in her nightgown to lie on the damp grass under the full moon, her arms and legs tucked tight against her chest like the baby sparrow I once found buried inside its brown speckled shell." Grief & beauty in this stunning collection @kristintenor.bsky.social

What a stunning read. Beautifully crafted characters in @patriciaqbidar.bsky.social novelette, Wild Plums @emergejournal.bsky.social Remarkable skill with details. Copy machines, YWCA locker rooms, locks, jigsaw puzzles-- the seemingly mundane soars in this exquisite book.

Brilliant memoir @paulwrites7.bsky.social about being accidentally shot in the head by best friend who hid gun, waited to call 911. Deep trauma, worsened by awful insurance ploys. Long, painful road to recovery. Paul's therapist: "You are the most resilient person I have ever met." Unforgettable.
