Happy to share our newest publication! 🤩
We found that DNA and RNA behave differently in primitive coacervates: RNA makes them more stable, DNA more fluid. Both properties are key for non-enzymatic DNA replication!
An incredible teamwork across continents! 😊

Differential stability and dynamics of DNA-based and RNA-based coacervates affect non-enzymatic RNA chemistry - Nature Communications
Mixtures of peptides and nucleic acids tend to demix and form coacervate droplets. Here, the authors show that even short peptides and oligonucleotides form droplets. DNA and RNA impart different prop...

Europe’s choice is clear.

To put science at the heart of its economy.

To become the home of scientific freedom and collaboration.

And to welcome talent from all over the world.

I’m glad to present the first elements of our Choose Europe Initiative.

Mg2+-driven selection of natural phosphatidic acids in primitive membranes
Biological membranes are composed exclusively of phospholipids comprising glycerol-1-phosphate or glycerol-3-phosphate. By contrast, primitive membranes would have likely been composed of heterogeneou...

Have you ever wondered how *natural* lipids got selected from the “mess” generated by prebiotic chemistry? Read our new preprint to find out! Spoiler alert: the selection process is metal-driven! Kudos to 1st year PhD Krishna and all coauthors!
