“Trump shares with Hitler more than just an affection for the prosaic, maudlin, and nationalistic. He also understands the strategic importance of controlling the arts.”
"Just as Hitler drew upon all of the creative energies of 🇩🇪 culture to evil result, so too could only the 🇺🇸 produce a Trump — a carnival barker + medicine man, shock jock + pornographer, reality show star and pro-wrestler. The Nazis traded in German kitsch, and so MAGA will trade in Americana."

Hear me out, Canada. A *good* neighbour would maybe become the 51st state, use our electoral college votes to tank the republicans in ‘26 & ‘28, get them free healthcare while we’re there and then back out slowly 👋🤞. As a parting gift they keep Pollievre & Alberta (with apologies to Paris Marx).

This is exactly it.
Did Elon Musk *really* do a Nazi salute? It doesn't matter. He knew how it would be interpreted, and as with Trump, the intent is beside the point.

He did it for one reason: To show us that he could, and that there's nothing we can do to stop him.

It was a display of power, and a signal: the tech oligarchy is here, and it will do what it wants
