@classicstober.bsky.social Day 30 of #ClassicsTober25: Lethe was one of the rivers of Hades. All those who drank from it experienced complete forgetfulness. The river was often associated with Lethe, the personification of forgetfulness & oblivion, the daughter of Eris (Strife). #ClassicsTober

✨The Eleusinian Mysteries✨

Demeter and Persephone flank a young youth thought to be Triptolemos. This beautiful Augustan era rendition based on a Greek relief is our pick for #ReliefWednesday and #ClassicsTober25.

deimos and phobos were hungry for snacks
so deimos and phobos both ordered flapjacks
their platter was served to them covered in berries
so they took their leftovers back home to Ares

so proud to be in this year's #classicsTober
so sad to think that this month will be over

phobos and deimos went out for a walk
phobos dared deimos to swallow some chalk
deimos told phobos he rather would not
so phobos and deimos sailed off on a yacht

@classicstober.bsky.social Day 28 of #ClassicsTober25:
Deimos and Phobos were the gods or personified spirits of fear. Deimos represented terror and dread, while his brother Phobos was panic, flight and rout. They were sons of the war-god Ares. As sons of Aphrodite, they also meant fear of loss.
