Running out of trees to hug in Copenhagen. 🌳 Red Byens Træer/saving urban trees 2013-2021. Bot + moron blocker on Twitter, hoping for something better here. I stand with Ukraine. 💙💛
Flea market find: "Morning of May 5th 1945" "Now the Danish press is free again".

I might also save the newspaper announcing the defeat of russia and liberation of Ukraine. If the dirty russians could just hurry up and. Fuck off. Give up. Go home. Die. #SlavaUkraini

Mission accomplished! Container moved to the pavement, the old corner beech is liberated.

Even if no one else cares, this is my logbook.

This is the second time this month that big old trees in Cph are tormented in my hood. I shudder to think what is happening to our urban trees in the rest of the city?

Sølund contractor removed the protective fence (!) to place a container in the sacred root zone of the old corner beech.

Update: The City of Cph wrote me today, with an attached GPS map of his route. They knew exactly who, where and when. The contractor will be instructed in reminding operators: turning must be done on asphalt or with the salting off.

YES! #savetheurbantrees

Nope. This was the classic: "Just tell her what she want to hear so she goes away." A**holes steaming up the windows, not lifting a finger. Made a broom out of a discarded Christmas tree and got the toxic salt bomb out of the soil myself.

Never trust. Always verify.

PS! She is not going away.

Salt dumping in the soil of the old lake chestnut trees. Salt wagon doing the street crossed bike lane, made a turn in the dripzone and took his time before moving on. Pumping out toxic salt.

Wrote the city. Two workers promised they would brush it off. Will check back and do it myself if not.

I have a question: How much longer are we going to pretend that this is not a problem?

Spotted on a short evening walk on Nørrebro last night. Little black keyboxes representing homes no longer for citizens, but for tourists. #dkpol

Only five years ago city of Aarhus invested in trams, a massive success, passenger numbers up by nearly 20% since last year.

In Cph we INSIST, for reasons unknown, to ignore other options and ruin city, environment and economy for more metro. Zero debate entertained. Why? #dktrp

Apparently, it is that easy. We are only a couple of well-greased pockets from this becoming a real threat.

This is what was and could still be again. The only tree left is the old robinia tree, who some say was planted by Thorvaldsen himself, with seeds brought back from Italy. #thorvaldsensplads

Just now learn that there is a *horrid* re-design suggestion for Bertel Thorvaldsens Plads, in the historical centre of Cph. It was recently presented to the public in an online publication Magasinet Kbh. By "JRDV Architects". I had to learn more. First, look at this monstrocity of a plan:

Nix, alt er det samme, for genkendelighedens skyld. Hvis den skulle opstå.

Oh, this is a little sad actually. As we all prepare to migrate. I miss twitter and I certainly never joined "X". Never would have in this form. #MyTwitterAnniversary

Nine years ago greedy pension funds @pfapension, @Topdanmark and Pensam cut down the avenue of linden trees on Ny Carlsberg Vej. They did not replant, but have now "generously" accepted the gift of new trees to be planted in December. #carsbergbyen

Early twitter vibes. No billionaire owner with an agenda. No evil bot swarms. No algorithm deciding for you. I don't know if I have the energy to rebuild, but I am giving it a try.

Here's the 1000 kr note, invalid by 31st of May 2025.

It has been decided that we can't be trusted with notes this big anymore. They are considered ill-gotten. Besides, the digital services lose out of a nice cut of the amount, when we bypass them.
November 17, 2024 at 10:08 AM
Service info for people outside Denmark holding Danish banknotes (from visits), a lot of them are becoming invalid by May 2025. Even a lot of Danes still don't know/haven't turned them in.

Most relevant: all notes from 1972 and 1997 plus 1000 kr note from 2009.

Tonight they are finally getting around to removing the soil. Or so they say. In the process they are tearing huge branches of our trees. Asfalt Sjakket, they call themselves. Shame on them! https://twitter.com/ClassicCph/status/1842607188424130828

We don't deserve our street trees. It is a miracle we even have any left.
November 17, 2024 at 5:50 AM
Contractor seeking dispensation to cut two times into protected tree. First time 1,25 m, second time another 2,5 m. City declines second cut. Approves 1,25 m, but neglect to send a rep to oversee it, I am the only witness. #dametræet #theladytree

You tell me: is this 1,25 m?

Checking to see when power will be restored in Minnesota after the big storm. Find this picture. An old tree amputated, all the roots supposed to hold it upright cut off at least roadside. Damaged or cut by pavement on other side. No wonder it topples in a severe storm.

This sh*tty f*cking bird with the toxic stinking poop, destroying everything it touches. First, they pooped to death the small bird refuge Fugleøen (pic 1) now they moved one lake over, to destroy Fiskeøen. Almost there (pic 2).

I call them the BlackRock of the animal kingdom.

Spotted one yesterday on a huge old Frederiksberg tree. Took it down right away. Another today, paused to document it first. Some english speaking moron is STAPLING this crap to our oldest trees.

I am furious! Leave our trees alone!

I always thought this spot would make a perfect public park, and only now learn that it used to be. In 1910 (pic) this spot was called Aborreparken.

The could still cover the railway below (to the right) and return it to the public as a small park.

I keep thinking how wild it is. Ukraine gave up the security of nuclear weapons, under the PROMISE that they would be protected. Now they have to beg for every little thing to just survive.

Still not allowed to hit military targets in russia. #LetUkraineStrikeRussianAirfields

The elevated bicycle infrastructure Cykelslangen was born ten years ago. An instant icon in glowing orange. But being Copenhagen, they let it fade. I often thought how stupid that was. Why not touch it up?

And then yesterday I spotted this. Can it be?
