Why classical music has gone from 5% of the business to less than 1% over the past 50+ years has a lot to do with the receding tide of arts education. This is true even in Europe, and only countered by what we see in Asia. Read the article “Pianos Anyone?” Free - link in bio.

People News: Beethoven Obsession

Bruckner was present when Beethoven's body was exhumed. When officials opened the coffin, Bruckner grabbed Beethoven's skull, held it, and kissed it. He was then forcibly removed.

In 1805, when Beethoven was writing the Appassionata, The Industrial Revolution was well underway in Great Britain and Germany, while Austria was making a treaty with Napoleon. This work is a lasting testament of that world as seen through the lens of Beethoven. Happy 254!
