Le Guin was a hell of a storyteller. The last book I read of hers was The Word for World is Forest and it literally made me cry. It was beautiful and tragic, which is apparently a subgenre of SFF that I love and may only exist in my own head.

I just added The Books of Earthsea collected edition to my bookshelf because I got inspired to read the series as well. I’m really excited about it!

Yeah I had to get away from “reading apps” for similar reasons. Now I just write notes about the books I read in a regular Notes app. No weird gamification or pressure, just a place to keep track of what I’ve read and what I thought about the stories.

Or read Discworld!! I’ve never read such a series that makes me laugh and cry so much.

I read somewhere recently that Rowling sold more books than Pratchett (can’t remember if that was worldwide or just Britain) and it makes me have even less hope for humanity

I’m glad to hear the end of The Way of Kings pays off - tbh I started that book in 2020 and gave up, I think about halfway through. Feeling more inspired to give it another shot now, so thanks :)

I was a SA victim of someone who ended up killing himself after being reported, and it took me a very long time to come around to this conclusion. It’s a real mind fuck. I hope the victims in this case get the support and love they need right now ❤️

Now I live in rural southern Missouri. I tell myself it doesn’t feel safe to be visible as trans in the local community. While that may not be entirely false, the real truth is that it would be extremely inconvenient.

Feels odd to me that now I’m basically a cis-passing man now. I remember my original “justification” to myself for coming out was to help others realize they could too. But in reality that’s not happening.

I actually *like myself*, which feels like a novel concept, and somewhat revolutionary on a personal level.
