I’ve decided that life is too short to spend time looking for Green-winged Teal in the UK.
Hi all. A neighbour has just come back from Canada and taken a few photos. Most in BC. But what I took to be an Eastern Kingbird near Toronto. Would be grateful for any assistance as I’m poor with North American Birds. I also think 2 are Black Bellied Plovers and maybe a Swainsons Thrush??

Brown Shrike showed nicely this morning. Nice bunch of birders present as well. #welshtick #lifer #BirdingWales

Beautiful family day at Whiteford Point today. And just about to walk up the hill back to the car park when we noticed a distant Osprey sat on the dead trees. Missed Ed’s Hobby unfortunately though. #BirdingWales

Cold and wet couple of hours at Fishguard. No sign of WW Tern when we were there. No doubt it’ll turn up once we head for home. Nice flat white in the cafe though.

Good to bump into Shaun, Neil, Bernie etc. at an increasingly wet Kidwelly. Phalarope showed quite nicely in the rain and well picked up by Neil. 👍 #BirdingWales

Having dipped on Saturday it was amazing that Chris Jones refound this bird in Gwent. Cheers Chris. A little distant but a stunner of a little bird. And managed to get back in time for the family barbecue. #BirdingWales #Lifer

Good to see 5 male Black Grouse and a Black-throated Diver in the Cairngorms area this morning. Donated a couple of pints of blood to the local midges as well. #BirdingScotland

Absolutely chuffed to see Beaver 🦫 in the Cairngorms this evening. And the hound was extremely patient (and quiet) which really helped. Time for a celebration.

Whooper Swan family on Loch Sandary. Great views of a Hen Harrier being mobbed by a Curlew on the road up to the St Kilda viewpoint. And a Shortie sat on the fence post. #BirdingScotland

Just on our way to Uig. Stopped off on Sleat Peninsula for a couple of hours. Good to see 2 Otters, Common Terns, Bullfinches, Gannets etc.

Lovely day out with Rob and my old man around the Salisbury Plains area today. Dipped on Stone Curlew and Turtle Doves but had great views of Corn Buntings and Yellowhammers. #UKBirds

1st visit to RSPB Otmoor today. Lovely little reserve. Stuffed full of Warblers, several Cuckoos, Swifts etc. Some very friendly birders as well. The Ruddy Duck showed nicely after a while. #UKBirding
