New projects this week include Roshani Chokshi’s next YA novel, The Swan's Daughter: A Possibly Doomed Love Story, in which Prince Arris, in hopes of finding a non-murderous bride, agrees to a royal tournament of bachelorettes, and strikes a deal with a veritas swan maiden who can separate truth from lie; Natural Selection by Clare Edge, a horror-tinged YA speculative thriller centering on three girls who share a name (and a secret), and whose lives go up in flames when a grizzly starts picking off known abusers in their secluded mountain town; and Fatal Glitch by Erin Entrada Kelly and Eliot Schrefer, a middle grade horror series pitched as Black Mirror meets Goosebumps, in which each standalone story features kids in frightening circumstances, facing off against some form of twisted modern technology.

ABOUT MIXING MAGICS Bernadette Crowley feels like she’s finally getting a handle on her diabetes diagnosis. At least, she can finally manage to not summon a demon every time she checks her blood sugar. But without her Grandma Orla, who disappeared into the demon dimension while protecting their family’s coven, even big wins don’t seem to matter as much. Frustrated that no one is trying hard enough to rescue Grandma Orla, Ber takes matters into her own hands, using her growing powers to try to reach the demon dimension. But nothing can prepare her for the truth, a history that ties together her family and demons back generations and a betrayal that has haunted them for years. With her friends Cai and Phoebe and her alert dog Clio, Ber must venture into the unknown to save her grandma and the magical world as a whole.

ALL THE NOISE AT ONCE by @deandrawrites.bsky.social is one of the best contemporary novels I've ever read. Which sounds hyperbolic, but damn. This book is going to change lives and hearts and make so many people laugh and cry with equal abandon. All the stars at once.
