Not only can it be time consuming for those who aren't Zotero/EndNote wizards, but we often do it incorrectly anyway and take longer than a copy editor. The task of mastering multiple styles discourages publishing in different fields. Seems inefficient!

Training in Muay Thai and kickboxing while in grad school taught me a lot about what one can still achieve when things are looking bleak. How about that for interdisciplinary!

I hope that we wise-up fast: find alternative funding, collect our own data (and share it widely), call banned terms by other names...whatever it takes to do the important work.

Clear writing. Fearless transparency about study shortcomings. Honest assessment of the applicability of findings. Thoughtful discussion of what needs to come next. To name a few!
