They get reborn in human bodies and gradually the dragon memories start to come to the fore, usually around puberty but trauma can usher them along. This curse also prevents them from using any shape-changing or life-extending magic! It's a really bad one!

There are worse dragons tho. Consciousness and Control is not a chill guy.

Nope! Because dragons were fully immortal/invulnerable gods before humanity got sick of their shit and set off the spiritual nuke that keeps them trapped in eternal reincarnation, they didnt HAVE a solid concept of what death meant for them. Now, no new dragons can be born, so none will be named.

I love how interacting with the setting shows us some of Wesleys character. He's noticing everything, even if hes not responding to it directly, and he's inclined to clean up a mess even if its not his. Thats good shit imo

Future me gets very frustrated with past me for this, but shes gonna have to Cope!

Yeah! Even just in what the character notices about their setting tells you a lot. The curtains can just be blue, but that the character *noticed* the blue curtains tells me something about them/their mindset

A good compare/contrast might be the Dresden Files (by jim butcher, not on bsky) in Chicago vs the Green Man series (by @julietemckenna.bsky.social, a pro author follow) in rural England. Similar plot beats (at least in early books) but a wildly different tone due, in part, to setting differences.

The pastry chefs at this joint are *insanely* good, i dont think i could make it as well as they did. It was light and fluffy while also densly packed with sweet-tart apple flavor... just powerfully tasty.
