VA emails have gone full Trump propaganda
As you may be aware, funding for some government agencies, including portions of the Department of Veterans Affairs, expired at midnight this morning. President Trump opposes a lapse in appropriations, and on September 19, the House of Representatives passed, with the Trump Administration's support, a clean continuing resolution to fund the government through November 21. Unfortunately, Democrats are blocking this Continuing Resolution in the U.S. Senate due to unrelated policy demands. During the current lapse in funding, the vast majority of VA benefits and services will continue uninterrupted, but the government shutdown is not without consequences to VA. Here is what you need to know:

Had a procedure at the VA canceled. Just shit out of luck now.

Attached message from my doctor when I asked for clarification.

At least I can still get my hormones for now.
They have been clarifying these issues recently. As of now, the only Transgender Care we're allowed to provide is HRT and only for those who were already on HRT prior to the Executive Order. Sorry we were unable to get this done before the cutoff. :(

Alright, here goes nothing. I've tried to be pretty open about the struggles I've had over the years. I've been locked in an ongoing war against the axis forces of depression and anxiety: trading wins and losses, going cold for spells, and at times have been on the brink of mutually assured destruction. In the ebbs and flows of this fight, I eventually came to terms with the fact that there was also a proxy war going on. For the longest time I've also been under attack by an insidious belligerent hiding in the shadows. A threat that I could not even bear to acknowledge: gender dysphoria. The hurt that gender dysphoria causes can be Machiavellian. So rarely does it just step up and announce itself for what it is. It takes up guerilla tactics instead, hiding its power, masking its intentions, stopping at nothing to hide its true, nightmarish nature. When it is finally revealed, like the greater villain looming over an endless series of misdeeds, it's a shock to see who was pulling th About a year ago I finally started to recognize this specter for what it actually is. That moment alone, the acknowledgement of its existence, took away a great deal of its power. I was suddenly refreshed. I was able to take care of myself and, more importantly, care about myself. I found motivation and discipline that I didn't know I had. I found my capability to improve myself, to solve problems that had seemed impossible before. Many of you have seen the changes that I've made. I am now able to work with my mind and my body instead of against them. These early steps that I have been able to take have been among the first in the long journey of transition. About six months ago I began hormone replacement therapy. Words cannot express how much of a life-changer it has been. My entire sense of self is revitalized. I can look in the mirror without hating what I see. I can accept myself for who I truly am. I am not becoming a new person. I am finally becoming myself. In case what I'm So, all that said, let's get down to the nitty-gritty. On the surface level, please allow me to answer at least some of the questions you may have. "What should I call you?" I have chosen a name. It is a name that is very important to me, with a loving history that I care very deeply for. That name is-- not ready to be revealed yet. I do not wish for my new name to be associated with me as I currently am, so I am waiting. When the time comes, I will be more than happy to share. In the meantime, "Schuler" will do just fine. "How should I refer to you?" Any pronouns are fine, so long as they are used with respect. Eventually I will just be she/her, but right now, just like my name, I am taking time to adjust. Please feel free to do the same. I imagine there will be a variety of reactions here. A few may be shocked. I expect more will be saying "I called it!" and perhaps stamping a spot on their bingo cards. You're not wrong to feel either way. If you have questions, feel free to reply
