Finished this incredible novel.

At times it was like reading 2 different books, the 1st half was multicultural domestic fiction, while the 2nd half was suspenseful, true crime, as the characters diverged into separate timelines.

Not surprised to find a bibliography at the end. Loved it!

Currently reading The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny by Kiran Desai.

These were the two that most appealed.

Hoping Sonia ditches the predatory self-proclaimed narcissist grooming her and the sex trafficking gallery store owner who employs her.😒

Finished this incredible novel, which almost felt like two different books, first half domestic fiction, second half had the feeling of suspenseful, true crime.
Not surprised to find a bibliography at the end. Loved it!

The Moon Over Bourbon Street recounts a visit to New Orleans in 2012, one of her favourite places.

Seeking the authentic, she interacts with local people who live around voodoo and priestesses every day, so not impressed by her passion, it's so normalised.

The first essay, Death and the Maiden opens with a visit to Genoa, Italy to Staglieno cemetery with a violin playing goth she falls for.

Thus begins a lifelong obsession, the birth of a Taphophile.
