Leftie besties we need to get in the gym, move our bodies, hike, chop wood. We need to be stronger. Yes, physically. We need to move in the physical world not just on podcasts and social media. Get buff for summer.

I’m enjoying this cross-section I see on bluesky. I’m tired of getting algorithm’d into holes, I don’t want to be in a hole. I wanna see it all, baby!!

Probably the most famous sequence of “The Great Dictator” is the five-minute speech that concludes the film. Here Chaplin drops his comic mask and speaks directly to the world, conveying his view that people must rise up against dictators and unite in peace.

I think it’s really important we identify the companies that are doing the right thing and reward them with our business.
NOW: More than 98% of #Costco shareholders have just rejected an anti-DEI measure

The attempt to force Costco to audit their #DEI work was by an anti-inclusion lobby group:

"The proponent's broader agenda is not reducing risk for the Company but abolition of diversity initiatives." - Costco Board

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.
