Had the HPV vaccine?
Cervical screening is still important.

The vaccine protects against the most common high-risk HPV types, but not all of them.

It’s #CervicalCancerAwarenessMonth 💚 Cervical screening isn’t about cancer, it’s about preventing it.

Thank you Joe 💜
Joe Todds

Joe, 64, from Swansea, experienced chronic backache and spotting years after menopause. When she visited her GP, they were dismissive and declined to investigate further. Concerned, Joe decided to go private, where a scan revealed endometrial cancer.

After the Senedd scrutiny: what we heard, and what still needs to happen.

Today’s Health & Social Care Committee hearing marked an important moment for gynaecological cancer in Wales.
Two years on from the Unheard report, progress is being made — but too slowly and too unevenly.

Today, on the day of the ‪@senedd.wales‬ session on the progress of the Unheard Report’s recommendations,

September is Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month.
There are 5 Gynaecological (Gynae) cancers and knowing the possible symptoms as well as being confident to talk about them could be a lifesaver.

September is Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month.
Jessica’s story shows why women need to be heard.
She was told it was infections. Then prolapse. Then endometriosis.

Months later, a 6.5cm tumour was found.

Jess's Rule will require GPs in England to "think again" if patients return 3 times with unresolved or worsening symptoms, or without a diagnosis.

We would like to see similar ambition here in Wales, to ensure women are safeguarded and listened to. 💜

📢 The most recent gynaecological cancer waiting time figures (July) show a worrying drop in early-stage diagnoses, now just 32.4%, down from 47% in June. Early diagnosis and timely treatment save lives. This backwards step is not acceptable.
