I’m glad you’ve had a good year! Sometimes it can be hard to see the light …. but talking/writing about your experiences will have helped a lot of other people too.

It’s not just the scapegoating of immigrants, which is truly appalling - it’s also the lack of understanding that the 11year old boys can grow into violent, misogynistic men with the help of the likes of Andrew Tate

I too want Scottish independence and I have been a member of SNP for longer than I can remember.
This does not preclude me from calling the government out when I see things that could be done better.

More money doesn’t mean I can do more in the same time - and before you trot out the holiday argument - we’re not paid for the holidays - we are paid for 40 weeks plus standard holiday allowance - I’m essentially not employed for 8 - 10 weeks of the year.

A colleague, for no apparent reason, cannot access his teaching slides - this has been going on for over a week, daily emails & calls to IT services - meanwhile he is having to rewrite every lesson

Perfect example.. this morning SEEMiS isn’t working, so all registers have to be hand written and delivered to the office EVERY lesson.
IT issues take up a ridiculous amount of time that could be better spent preparing for and actually teaching the pupils.

I stand by what I said, the improvements are down to staff working themselves into the ground without the appropriate support for pupils.

It’s about being able to do the best for the pupils and having all the correct support in place.

We have more aggressive parents, with unrealistic demands to deal with.
Pupils who missed out on socialising due to Covid are displaying difficult to deal with behaviour.
We are doing the job with tighter and tighter budgets.
And still schools are STILL improving numeracy & literacy results.

Try being a teacher .. the little darlings (teenagers) are over excited and loud and don’t want to do their work… management are forcing jollity on us and expecting us to be grateful… when does this term end??? Not until 15:40 on Tuesday. Not sure I’ll get through it without committing a crime…
