On St John’s Kitchen Bridge there are two mythical beasts known as Yales forming part of the coat of arms of Lady Margaret Beaufort. They have the tail of an elephant, the trunk of an antelope and the head of a goat, with horns that can swivel from back to front — which is nice.

At the end of each tall bookcase in St John’s College Old Library there are two little doors concealing a list of the books on the shelves behind. These haven’t been updated since 1690 so someone really needs to get this sorted.
