I don’t think so. I do sometimes talk up how great it is, but I try to always match my rhetoric to the other person’s interest level in having kids. If they’re ambivalent, I’m happy to talk through both sides!

It’s not JUST my daycare — it was also at the public school my older son attended. I have also heard it from friends elsewhere! I do realize it’s not universal but I don’t think it’s specific only to one daycare.

I don’t know if it’s widespread, but I have been shocked by the nonstop holiday and birthday related goodie bags from my kids’ classmates. Like, since infancy.

when i took a children's lit class in college, one of the first texts we studied was struwwelpeter, an astonishingly racist and violent 19th-century german picture book that i would NEVER show to my small kids
