I had known that Ancestry had launched Sheffield & Rotherham parish records a few months back but not really used them as already on FindmyPast; however, the years are up to more recent than FMP so had some great new discoveries www.ancestry.co.uk/search/colle...

Today I am remembering my great x 2 grandfather Oliver Cromwell Johnson. A private in the Yorkshire & Lancashire Regiment. He died 27th November 1917 during the Battle of Cambrai. His body never found. Remembered on the Cambrai Memorial, Louverval, France. We have no photo of him.

Long Melford village Remembrance Day Parade. Led by a lone piper; the scouts, cubs, beavers, squirrels, air and sea cadets, fire brigade, and the school all marched to the parish church for the service.
