Here is the history of the refugee cap US presidents have set since the creation of the country's resettlement program in 1980. Yesterday, Trump announced a cap of 7500, half of the 15k cap he had set in his first administration. 15k was unprecedentedly low then, 7.5k is unprecedentedly low now.

A really interesting visualization by @gelliottmorris.com showing that independent voters in battleground states believe Dems are more focused on the issues that matter to them (affordable prices, healthcare, poverty) than are Reps (jobs being the exception).

@gelliottmorris.com shows us that Trump is now underwater on all key issues. I do wish he would separate out "the border". I see "immigration" and "deportations", but those don't capture the idea that Republicans are better at "securing the border".

There are very few policy positions on which Democrats and Republicans agree these days. Having a U.S. refugee resettlement program is one of them.
Too bad this administration is decimating it.

@gelliottmorris.com: If TX Reps can swing 5 seats away from Dems, as their current plan likely does, Dems will need to win House popular vote by roughly 2.5-3 points to win the majority of seats.
Dems right now at 2.3 point lead.

The opposition is not asleep, it’s just not coalescing around a single leader. Protest activity is way up relative to 2017. And No Kings may have matched the Women’s March.

Would love to know what data @mattyglesias.bsky.social is looking at when he tells us Dems should not be raising the salience of immigration because the data @gelliottmorris.com is looking at says the opposite.
