Let's talk about libraries, tech, sci fi, mixedness, exvangelicalism, etc. Swim/bike/run. Nebraskan expat, chili + cinnamon rolls evangelist.
It's about making a gender hierarchy where men's role is to be in control seem natural and god-given.

...which was confusing since I simultaneously got a lot of 90s girl power messaging from my single (but religious) mom.

I keep having to re-learn that there is just no accounting for taste

This administration's Death of Stalin-style dark comedy will be a rich tapestry. Looking forward to seeing who they cast.

Have we no pride in ownership, fellow Americans? There's nothing desirable about letting the superwealthy hold the keys to every nice thing in society. Libraries' public mission will be best served when funded by the public. Us.

Smoking is a great analogy. People of all political stripes indulge in both for fun. One is bad for your lungs, one is bad for your brain. Neither is cute. I am the fun police and I will die on this hill.

A young barista once asked where I got all my unique clothing pieces. I'm just old and don't throw things away.

Icing on the cake: Stopped for dinner across the street at Rikki's women's sports bar. Walked in to see Husker volleyball on. It was a sweep!

Besides increased self-knowledge and overall personal growth, aging out of the pestering attention of older men has been the biggest delight of aging

I have spent the last week in more pain than I can remember, relegated to mostly Tylenol for pain management and lemme tell ya, I miss ibuprofen
November 13, 2025 at 1:25 PM
lol, back pain is his example. my stoic midwestern upbringing & fear that pain meds "mask the real problem" kept me from taking meds for it for years

on day 3 of a bad bout I went to urgent care and the nurse nearly laughed me out of the office for not trying a dumb ol NSAID before I came to them

I get crippling muscle spasms in my lower back at random a few times a year. Ibuprofen is (usually) sufficient to relax the muscles enough to get me to a place where I can stand up straight again. Otherwise, I have to step up to harsher, RX muscle relaxants.

Truly the mediocrest of white men

Who do we have to pay off to get word processing software to permanently autocorrect that to "child rapist"? Which journalism style guide can we overwrite that pulls the most weight?

Online video content is dead to me. I don't walk around with headphones in all day and people who play audio aloud in public are uncivilized.

I know I should not to read this, but also morbidly curious about "liberalism's mistakes"

I'm hoping for a Death of Stalin level pitch dark comedy. Who will Steve Buscemi play?
