Questioning electoral integrity without evidence is anti-democratic behavior.

Wilders is now sharing unsourced messages suggesting voter fraud. He does so by ‘asking questions’. This comes after him questioning the ANP calling the elections.

Tak to Ambassador Ulf Melgaard for an insightful exchange about the Dutch elections at the residence in Den Haag.

Good reflections on campaign dynamics and the implications for the Netherlands, Danish-Dutch 🇩🇰 🇳🇱 and international relations.

That’s it, go vote the Netherlands 🇳🇱 🗳️

Treasure your democracy, free elections, independent media, rule of law, and freedoms

Dus, mind your words, veel plezier

Verkiezingen zijn ook rituelen en heel veel vrijwilligerswerk. Van opbouwen van stemlokalen tot het tellen. Dat is prachtig #tk2025

Not a fan of sharing single polls, but this latest @ipsosnl.bsky.social poll in the Netherlands underscores recent poll trends and show a WIDE OPEN field with 3 (actually 5) parties being incredible close:

PVV (Wilders), D66, Green-Socialdemocrats and then CDA and VVD (Liberals) so CLOSE

PVV leader Wilders calls the AI images inappropriate. He offers an apology to Timmermans on X

A big problem is that his message will reach only a fraction of the audience for the original images.

Dutch television has a quite wonderful tradition of bringing together the party leaders a few days before the election.

For Q&A, quizzes, questions from children and collaborative exercises.

Many young folks, and their parents, watch and the atmosphere is lighter, constructive and substantive!

Latest poll of polls for Dutch elections 🗳️ 🚨

Multiple parties edging closer to each other. Still many undecided voters. At this point very hard to predict which party might lead government negotiations.

In one week the outcome of the Dutch elections is known.

With a high percentage (above 50%) of undecided voters, the outcome is unpredictable.

Current polls show that at least four parties are needed to form a majority government.

AI memes and images are used frequently, now also in election campaigns.

Low costs, ease of production lead to frequent usage to keep certain topics, emotions, and associations with politicians on voters' radar.

Chatbots offer explicit vote advice ahead of elections.

A simple prompt leads to receiving an advice for the Dutch October 29 elections ⬇️

The Dutch Data Protection Authority concluded: AI chatbots are not transparent, they are not auditable, and providers should prevent use as vote advice.

This is a shitpost.

No democratic leader would get away with deprecating citizens like this.

AI generated content is used to once again shift norms.

RIP political advertising online?

Today the EU Transparency and targeting of political advertising  (TTPA) regulation takes effect.

But rather than more transparency and stricter rules on targeting, there will be less advertising because Google and Meta drop these ads rather than than complying.

Latest poll of polls from the Netherlands with elections in 3 weeks:

- PVV/ Wilders in the lead
- CDA and Greens/Social democrats close
- VVD, D66, JA21 close as 3-5th largest

Little movement in past weeks. But >50% voters still in doubt 📈 📉

Meta’s decision to ban ads about politics, elections, and social issues on their platforms like Facebook and Instagram in the EU is now implemented.

This is the new policy. Any ad about fx elections, civil rights, economy, health, climate, immigration, or foreign policy is now (presumably) banned.

The new EU rules on political advertising online take effect October 10.

Google and Meta (FB, Insta) will stop political ads on their platforms 🛑

But when??? FB is now very explicit about when it takes effect: October 6

In 4️⃣ weeks the Dutch elections take place 🗳️

The latest poll of polls @peilingwijzer.bsky.social shows a fragmented political landscape, relatively modest movements currently, and a very high proportion of undecided voters.

No one wants to govern with PVV, any (other) coalition is 4 or more parties

More than half of Americans get their news regularly from Tiktok. And this has more than doubled in 5 years. Tiktok has become a key gateway to news and politics.

This makes ownership of and content on the platform even more important.

It’s World News Day today.

A day to raise global awareness to amplify the value of fact-based journalism.

Important campaign. And important to emphasize the importance of freedom of journalism from political pressure.
