One thing I learned about making mixtapes as a romantic entreaty is that very few people, even if they really like you, are prepared or interested in divining the affectionate intentions subtly conveyed in a 14-minute Yes song. Prog rock can be a cruel mistress.

Energizer is a great park, and I’m hoping CITY will field a more cohesive and competitive squad this season after two years of wandering through a wilderness of their own making. Downtown STL is hit and miss, but it’s a town that takes its sport seriously and soccer has a deep history there.

This reminds of the time I was at a Blues - North Stars playoff game in St. Louis (where I lived then) and some bad penalty got called. Literally the entire Arena crowd yelled “BULLSHIT” over and over at at the top of its lungs. Teenage me was guiltily elated by the excuse to swear really loud.

Just a line that came to me as I was getting ready for bed last night. Both personal and political in nature, I think.
