So inspired by India Rose Crawford’s lovely stop motion videos, another PhD student and I made a little archaeology frog as a fun finals week diversion!

I also work with a collection of Indonesian megaliths that were imported as art objects into the US in the early 2000s. This project deals a lot with issues of authenticity, object biographies, and provenance.

A lot of my time is spent researching ground stone/polished tools from Madrid, Spain- mostly from the Neolithic and Chalcolithic! This involves microscopic use wear analysis, raw material source identification, and experimental archaeology projects!

Figured it was time for an introduction! I’m Corinne, a PhD candidate at the University of Iowa. My research broadly focuses on how humans collect and use rocks/minerals in the past and the present, particularly how environmental and cultural changes influence these practices.

Hello everyone! I figured I should do a quick introduction post for Bluesky. I’m a PhD Candidate in Archaeology focusing on the provenance and use wear on stone artifacts from ground stone axes to megaliths. Generally excited about all things geochem, art/antiquities trade, teaching, & publishing!
