Recently got into a discussion regarding the 95 Indians batting Omar Vizquel 2nd. Seems so ridiculous now, but there are still people that argue he was good there because he didn’t K and was a good bunter and that was somehow a good reason to take PAs away from Jim Thome and Manny Ramirez.

Recently got into a discussion regarding the 95 Indians batting Omar Vizquel 2nd. Seems so ridiculous now, but there are still people that argue he was good there because he didn’t K and was a good bunter and that was somehow a good reason to take PAs away from Jim Thome and Manny Ramirez.
Was recently looking at SB success rates. Probably helped that teams were perfectly willing to run into outs on the bases a good 40% of the time as well.

With CC, the last pitcher elected by the writers was Halladay 6 years ago and probably not looking at another till maybe Greinke or Kershaw/Verly/Scherzer.

Schilling would have been in if he hadn’t told voters not to vote for him. He was at 71%, and trending up, then dropped to 58% his final year after doing that.

Lifetime Ms fan. My, then 8 yo son decided his team was the DBacks because he liked the logo. Had the opportunity to take him to a WS game. So I’ll be good and damned if I let someone tell me they can’t be my second favorite team.

Nick Markakis too. Both would have been interesting HOF discussions had they reached 3000 hits. Same with Adam Dunn had he reached 500 HRs.

I mean, where are we drawing the line with “superlative”. 7.3 bWAR is pretty elite. Juan Soto just posted his first season above 7.3.
