Do you think it was giving up or Dan just trusting Kirby to get it together and give a couple more quality innings? If it was the latter, then I don’t really have an issue with it.

He had kind of a sketchy prostitution issue as well.

Although, a Garver & JP bounce back and it’s honestly not that bad

Man, that bottom 4 could be rough.

Recently got into a discussion regarding the 95 Indians batting Omar Vizquel 2nd. Seems so ridiculous now, but there are still people that argue he was good there because he didn’t K and was a good bunter and that was somehow a good reason to take PAs away from Jim Thome and Manny Ramirez.

Was recently looking at SB success rates. Probably helped that teams were perfectly willing to run into outs on the bases a good 40% of the time as well.

I started hitting up Vinason, across the street, before games. I like their food and a fun vibe especially when it’s nice out.

You think they’d move Vientos for Luis Castillo and a prospect, or would Seattle have to give up one of their cost controlled arms instead?

Egregious one and done

Sometimes timing plays a big role in the voting
December 17, 2024 at 12:53 AM
Schilling got on the ballot right before Maddux, Glavine, Pedro, Randy and Smoltz.

With CC, the last pitcher elected by the writers was Halladay 6 years ago and probably not looking at another till maybe Greinke or Kershaw/Verly/Scherzer.

Could be timing as well. The standard for SPs is quite a bit different now than it was in 2013.
December 16, 2024 at 11:51 PM
Schilling would have been in if he hadn’t told voters not to vote for him. He was at 71%, and trending up, then dropped to 58% his final year after doing that.

Honestly mostly surprised at how little JoRam makes (relatively speaking).

Lifetime Ms fan. My, then 8 yo son decided his team was the DBacks because he liked the logo. Had the opportunity to take him to a WS game. So I’ll be good and damned if I let someone tell me they can’t be my second favorite team.

David Lander (Squiggy) was a scout for the Mariners and Angels.

I will stomp my feet if he’s elected any sooner than his 8th ballot
December 16, 2024 at 3:40 PM
Never seen that. That’s incredible
December 13, 2024 at 9:55 PM
I thought Seattle declined when the Sox asked for one of the younger pitchers. Woo maybe?
December 13, 2024 at 4:19 PM
Nick Markakis too. Both would have been interesting HOF discussions had they reached 3000 hits. Same with Adam Dunn had he reached 500 HRs.

I mean, where are we drawing the line with “superlative”. 7.3 bWAR is pretty elite. Juan Soto just posted his first season above 7.3.
December 12, 2024 at 3:57 PM
Bobby Abreu and Johnny Damon were the first two that came to mind.
December 12, 2024 at 3:45 PM
Manny went .333/.442/.663 with 44 HRs & 165 RBIs in 1999. Led the league in RBIs and SLG that year. 7.3 bWAR.

Also had a 6 year run over 1.000 OPS.

He does not fit in this discussion.

Feel like I’m constantly reminding people All Star games are for 10 year olds. My son thinks they’re awesome.
