@rafaelfajardo.bsky.social this reminded me of the contemporary art capstone I took with you!! Just needed to share the weird marriage of technology, society, art and nature. I found this at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. :))

"Nature's Daughter" by Braidynne Brashaer is stunning visually and it reminded me of when my sister and I used faux stained glass on our bedroom window. #ConArtInSitu

This piece was also nostalgic as it shows childhood creativity and exploration. #ConArtInSitu

I wonder if the position of these two dolls could suggest exploring sexuality. #ConArtInSitu

“Playing Girly” by Syd Lee encapsulates femininity as an abstract concept. However, it is also nostalgic because of a lot of shared experiences among young girls. #ConArtInSitu

For some reason, this piece reminded me of this guy from Monsters University. #ConArtInSitu

"Hortensia Armchair" by artists Andrés Reisinger and Júlia Esqué is made from molded foam, a metal frame, and polyester flower petals. #ConArtInSitu

The petal serving ware by Nao Tamura might have been one of my favorite pieces in the exhibit. Learning that these were made of silicone made me want to pick them up and bend them around. #ConArtInSitu

"Lowlands" created by Alexandra Kehayoglou exemplifies ways that artists in Biophilia have created environmental activist art out of nonconventional materials. This piece in particular uses wool to portray the lowlands of Argentina (where Alexandra is from). #ConArtInSitu

The narration of the short film is what initially stood out to me. Particularly the quote “are you the man with who oppressive produce?” #ConArtInSitu

I’m sitting with “La Ville, Les Abres” by Nadiya Jackson #ConArtInSitu

The colored pencil drawing on the right depicts cracks from erosion and possibly colors that come from chemical interactions. #ConArtInSitu

The piece I am sitting with is “The Weight of a Patina of Time” by Gala Porras-Kim #ConArtInSitu

The piece that I am sitting with is “Memorial Pole” by John Wallace. A Haida artist from current day Alaska. #ConArtInSitu

I will be sitting with “Rain Has No Father” made by El Anatsui. #ConArtInSitu
April 24, 2024 at 8:20 PM
The simplicity of the drawing in graphite pencil allows the images and words to speak louder. I can view the work without the implications of certain colors. #ConArtInSitu

The figure above the peoples’ head is so sweet! It resembles how it feels to get butterflies about someone you like. Such a human experience. #ConArtInSitu

After thinking for a minute, I believe that it represents the way that housing projects were not always beneficial to the Black and low-income communities. #ConArtInSitu

“Better Homes, Better Gardens” by Kerry James Marshall is the piece I’m sitting with today. #ConArtInSitu

I love the bright colors in this painting by Gustave Caillebotte! #ConArtInSitu
April 17, 2024 at 8:18 PM
“Landscape With Twin Trees” by Gustave Courbet would be considered realism but I see a few links to realism and contemporary genres. #ConArtInSitu

I just noticed how his painting is in the colors that represent a gender binary.
