Have her ask the solicitor for a copy of the grant of aid. It will specify what her contribution should be - usually a token amount. Or maybe they’re right in the circumstances. Not sure without seeing the grant or any correspondence she has from Legal Aid. Hope she sorts it out.

Not really near me then, so I can’t help. BTW it is against all the rules for a solicitor to take a Legal Aid brief and then charge the client extra. Absolute no-no and if reported would probably get them thrown off the panel.
