❤️🐾 We said goodbye to our Benny today. He was our mountain climbing schnauzer who accompanied us on many a hike. We had him the longest of all of our dogs. He was smart, loving, and an excellent dog brother. Benny, enjoy chasing all of the ice cubes sliding across the floor in heaven!

“That’s what ‘The Bear’ is really about: How do we live together when someone always seems to be going too far? The answer we ultimately get is that we can’t. We can’t sustain a community when the pain grows too great,” our columnist David French writes.

“The Bear” asks the question, how do we live together when someone always seems to be going too far?

Jim Shooter, who passed away yesterday at age 73, wrote this interaction between Reed Richards and Iron Man (James “Rhodey” Rhodes filling in for Tony Stark) in Secret Wars #8 back in 1984. It always stuck with me.

I’m a little late to the party. It took me 25 years, but I finally got around to reading Michael Chabon’s “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay.” This book is brilliant.

The was the hot toy in 1978! Although the action figures of Han and Luke in stormtrooper armor are fiction. I remember really wishing Kenner made figures like those. They eventually did make them, but not until long after my action figure collecting days were over.

We did the Champlain Area Trails Grand Hike today. The full hike is about 16 miles, but if you take advantage of a few shortcuts (which we did) the route is cut to a still-respectable 8.62 miles. The rain stopped just in time for the hike to begin. The temperature was perfect. Best of all—no bugs!

If you told me I’d one day I’d be singing Led Zeppelin on stage at the Egg Performing Arts Center, I never would’ve believed it. Can’t wait to get started on our next Rock Voices season — all one-hit wonders!

Perhaps the version of the #FantasticFour that will appear on movie screens this summer originates in the “Timely Cinematic Universe” before moving to the #MCU

Billy Joel gets his first Top 40 hit today in 1974 with “Piano Man”.

“I have no idea why that song became so popular,” he said years later. “I was shocked and embarrassed when it became a hit. But my songs are like my kids, and I look at that song and think: 'My kid did pretty well.'"

Need help, internet. We recently set up this combo record player/CD player/tape deck/radio that once belonged to my in-laws. It’s fun spinning vinyl again. But the CD player doesn’t work. When you insert a disc, it spins for a while and then reads “00” tracks. If you press play, nothing happens. 1/2
