New additions to Meta's Board and new policies, relaxing mechanisms to prevent fake news and hate speech, are unacceptable. Quitting as an audience for their advertisers (97% of Meta's revenue comes from them), is the only way, like a strike by a union, to break them down.

After a couple weeks without fishing at my backyard, this was an exciting dawn. The premium species, I was after (snook and tarpon), didn’t show up. But the lookdown specimens were great, yielded a couple tasteful filets, grilled and topped with lemon butter. Scorpion was rising on the sky.

To understand the current crisis in Western societies, the failure of the democracy-capitalism-liberalism tripod to deliver equal rights, opportunities for growth and reduction of disparities (not that other tripods have been more successful, except for a few countries among the top-HDI).

Between Jan and Feb 1999, I read "At Home in the Universe". Recently, I did a crash course on the theme of the emergence of complex life on Earth, by reading these 6 books on the subject, which I recommend.

Apart from the fact that the functioning of the brain has always been an interest of mine, instigated by both @drrachelbarr.bsky.social postings and references cited in "Life 3.0", these are the books I read to delve into the subject. Every 3 months or so, I select a subject for a deep dive.

The ideal book for an introductory crash course on philosophy. I’ve been following @philosophyminis.bsky.social (on Instagram) over the last 2 years or so, and his posts are excellent (I quit all Meta’s social medias in disagreement with their new polices and Board members).

Last weekend fishing trip, at the Everglades, along with David Dickinson. Neither the snooks nor the tarpons, our primary targets, showed up, but we had some fun with cichlids and other forms of wildlife.
