Excellent new study of voter ideologies by party association. Definitely worth a read.

The strong bimodality of Dems on economic policy and the even wider bimodal distribution of Rs on social policy is interesting.

Both good threads. Google ad revenue has been growing, but it's been shrinking as a % of overall revenue. I also personally won't miss less focus on SEO. It's a cancer.

I used to be a dev who also had to do L3/white glove support for a trading application that facilitated about $3B of notional per day.

A few times, I got up at my usual 5am to check it was ready for traders at 7, and the fucking DB transaction log would have eaten up all the space on its drive.

Looking at Texas the precinct I grew up in (probably 100-200 square miles ~ 64,000 acres) vs. our current building in NYC (one square block ~ 5 acres): not that different in total population, and the votes are completely inverted.

These flat maps are so deceptive.

We saw Tortoise at Bowery Ballroom tonight.

It was a great show - took me back to the 90s.

This kind of thing still happens in congress, right?

And, the aggregate approval (including ratfuckers like Rasmussen) breaks the 40% line.

This article is fascinating. There's a section on the history of how the census has measure race/ethnicity and the corresponding results.

I found this particularly interesting:

Fortunately, NYS (like Oregon) already regulates cannabis and hemp products separately. Still doesn't solve the discontinuity with federal law (DEA schedule, banking laws, etc.) - that's another battle.

Google Trends for "ACA Subsidies"

There was a tiny bubble of interest in July, but the jump is noticeable once the shutdown started.

Five R senators voted in defiance of Thune/Trump to pass a Democratic-led measure to end emergency powers Trump invoked to place a 50 percent tariff on goods from Brazil last week.

I've gone up and down these stairs a thousand times on one of my standard routes across the park.

Little me would never have imagined.

Oddly, Vornado is down since Jan 20th (big drop on liberation day) but has been trending up after Mamdani's election.

I'm kind of annoyed at the simplistic reporting about Elon's "comp plan". It's 12 tranches of options that vest over 10 years and the benchmarks are crazy. (spoiler alert - he will not meet them)

Zoomers showed up and voted for Mamdani. Under 30s comprised 11% of the total vote.
