The strong bimodality of Dems on economic policy and the even wider bimodal distribution of Rs on social policy is interesting.

Both good threads. Google ad revenue has been growing, but it's been shrinking as a % of overall revenue. I also personally won't miss less focus on SEO. It's a cancer.

I used to be a dev who also had to do L3/white glove support for a trading application that facilitated about $3B of notional per day.

A few times, I got up at my usual 5am to check it was ready for traders at 7, and the fucking DB transaction log would have eaten up all the space on its drive.
A Cloudflare spokesperson said the “root cause” of the outage was an automatically generated configuration file used to manage threat traffic that “grew beyond an expected size of entries,” which triggered a crash in the software system that handles traffic for several of its services.

Looking at Texas the precinct I grew up in (probably 100-200 square miles ~ 64,000 acres) vs. our current building in NYC (one square block ~ 5 acres): not that different in total population, and the votes are completely inverted.

These flat maps are so deceptive.

Fortunately, NYS (like Oregon) already regulates cannabis and hemp products separately. Still doesn't solve the discontinuity with federal law (DEA schedule, banking laws, etc.) - that's another battle.

The main difference is how much THC they have. Hemp = 0.3% THC or less Cannabis = More than 0.3% THC A hemp product comes from hemp and is not allowed to have more than 0.3% THC. Cannabis products can have more than 0.3% THC.

I'm kind of annoyed at the simplistic reporting about Elon's "comp plan". It's 12 tranches of options that vest over 10 years and the benchmarks are crazy. (spoiler alert - he will not meet them)
The 10-year plan consists of 12 vesting tranches of stock options. To unlock the full package (valued at nearly $1 trillion), Elon Musk must meet all of the following Market Capitalization AND Operational Milestones. To unlock each of the 12 tranches, he must meet one market cap milestone AND one operational milestone. 1. Market Capitalization Milestones The plan requires Tesla's market capitalization to increase in $500 billion increments, starting at $2.0 trillion and maxing out at $8.5 trillion. 2. Operational Milestones The plan includes five massive operational goals. To unlock the full 12 tranches, all of these must be achieved: Vehicle Delivery: Deliver 20 million vehicles (cumulative). Robotaxi Fleet: Deploy 1 million robotaxis into commercial service. Humanoid Robots: Produce and sell 1 million Optimus humanoid robots. FSD Subscriptions: Achieve 10 million active Full Self-Driving (FSD) subscriptions. Core Profit: Reach $400 billion in EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) over four consecutive quarters. 3.
