I did not expect to attract a wild turkey to the feeder!

Several hundred fine people young and old are peacefully demonstrating in Haverhill this morning. Every issue from Veteran’s services to Social Security to tariffs to jobs to libraries is on their minds. Lots of honks of support, thumbs up and waves from passing cars. It will only get stronger!

I discovered the most fascinating growth today in a corner of our land.

Put up a grill to guard the deer feeder. Abs will not be deterred!

A herd of 8 this morning moved quickly past. I sincerely believe our terrier would have joined them if we’d let her! Glad for these moments of joy.

I wish someone could teach MAGA-ts some math. They are now making a big deal about Clinton’s major federal RIF (reduction in force) in 1993. He and Gore, as part of larger debt reduction initiatives, reduced the federal workforce which had swelled under Reagan by a fifth. (Per NARA.)

If every other ad and recommended clip in my stream could feature a string, smart, professional woman instead of all this “trad wife” bullshit that would be great. My block finger is getting tired.

Our hunter, having been foiled at every turn, bleakly acknowledges each new bird with a chirp.

So, why exactly aren’t Democrats pouncing on the fact that eggs have gone up?

Just finished my first NARA catalog transcription. It was pretty easy. As a data geek it makes me happy, and a little at a time will do much good for researchers. Now to dig into the “missions” to see if any particular collection moves me.

This dude here? We’ve named him Abs. He will hang from the deer feeder like this and do a crunch, get a kernel, chomp it down and repeat. He’ll keep at it for far longer than you’d think he would. He’s got a distant cousin I’m thinking of naming Wallenda.

A pair of Great Horned Owls are singing us to sleep tonight. I love how much closer we are to nature now!

Feeling very inspired by the presentations I’ve seen at this week’s Data Governance / AI Governance conference in DC. Data is such an undervalued asset, there’s so much to do! #dgiqe2024

This little one flew into our sliding door and has been recovering for about 15-20 minutes now. Thankfully our fur babies are showing empathy and haven’t been making a racket. This definitely cements my argument for hanging wreaths on the back of the house too!

Birdwatching!

This morning we’ve had pileated woodpeckers, titmice, nuthatches, juncos, chickadees. It’s wet so not as busy yet.

This majestic creature swooped down just above the tree line next to our driveway and then circled back. This is the first bald eagle I’ve seen here since we moved in. I’m so happy!
