Good morning from NorCal. It's raining and 6C/43F. Charlotte and Jane are under the covers, the cats are snuggled in warm places. Lord Byron is explaining the severe sausage shortage to Dad. When I went to get the paper, I heard only the sound of rain and running water. Have a terrific day!

Good morning from NorCal. It's 2C/36F. When I went to get the paper, there were stars in the sky. Owls hooted and frogs were singing. The neighbor's Scottish cow was by the fence so I told her good morning, too. All pets up to no good. Have a wonderful day!

Alice Walker emailed me 3 times this morning from her secret gmail account to tell me how much she loved my books. Sure. One of the greats is so excited about Romance that she had to tell me THREE times in 10 minutes.

AI needs to fuck off.

Good morning from NorCal. It's raining hard and 7F/45F. There was distant thunder around 4:30 AM. I stood in the garage (lights off) with my delicious tea and listened to the rain for a while. All pets currently snoozing. Have a terrific day!

In reading news, I have read everything by RF Kuang then zipped through Robin Hobb's Assassin series.

This week I have my follow up X-ray and visit to the podiatrist at which time I really really really hope they'll say my broken bone is all healed and I can boot the boot.

However, in happy plant news, the Calif pipevine (aristolochia californica) I planted last fall with, I confess, low hopes, has several flowers. Fingers crossed for Pipevine swallowtails at some point!

I planted my pacific wax myrtle seeds for sprouting before I transplant, but the container was too heavy to move into the greenhouse so I left it outside and then it rained 1.4 inches overnight. I have low hopes for the rescue operation. Alas.

Greetings from NorCal. It's dark, damp, and 9C/48F. My rain garden is doing its job of keeping rainwater from running down the driveway. The frogs were singing when I went to get the paper. Last night owls were hooting. All pets snoozing. Visiting Cat has again spent the night. Have a marvelous day!

Yesterday I had a great recorded convo with Cindy Cohn of the @eff.org about privacy rights then and now. She gave me the sad news that Dave Farber recently passed away. I read about the ATT case from his iconic Interesting People list and reached out to EFF to say WTF and then: Jewel vs. NSA […]

Valentine's Day greetings from NorCal! It's overcast and 7C/45F. When I was getting the paper out of the box, something hissed at me from several feet behind me. Cat? Bobcat? Lynx? Too dark to see. The main point is it only hissed. I have strong coffee. All pets snoozing. Have a hearty day!

Greetings from NorCal. It's 6C/43F. Can now see it is foggy in the mid-distance. Owls were hooting and frogs were singing on my way to get the paper. Charlotte and Jane are snoozing under the covers. Devil Cat, Elderly Cat, and Visiting Cat spent last night in my room. Have a fabulous day!

Good morning from NorCal. It's dark, dampish, and 6C/44F. When I went to get the paper, I saw a crescent moon and stars peeking from between the clouds. Frogs are singing loudly. All pets are snoozing. I have delicious tea. Have a terrific day.

When I took the dogs out for their afternoon not-really-a-walk, it was raining and I was calling them from the side of the house and not even best girl Jane was coming. When I checked, it was because Devil Cat and Visiting Cat were blocking the way and no dog dared attempt to pass.

Good morning from NorCal. Monday is behind us. It's dark and 6C/43F with rain in the forecast. Stars sparkle between gaps in the clouds. It was quiet when I went to get the paper, but last night the frogs were singing in the frog pond outside my room. All pets snoozing. I have purple Oolong tea.

Good morning from NorCal on this Gateway to Not Monday. It's dark and 7C/44F. Wispy clouds covered the moon but stars sparkled above. Charlotte and Jane are snoozing under the covers. Visiting Cat spent the night. It was quiet when I got the paper. May everyone who isn't a fascist have a great day.

Good morning from NorCal. Current temp is 9C/48F same as it was when I went to get the paper earlier. It's very foggy at the house. All pets currently snoozing. The Blue Jays do not immediately swoop in for their treats when it's too wet. Given this, I think it rained last night. Have a super day!

Took the dogs outside for their afternoon not-really-a-walk and they had a good time. Once they were inside again, I walked for 30 minutes, very slowly because of the boot, but it was 30 whole minutes! It's such a relief to be cleared to walk more.

Greetings from NorCal. It's dark and starry. Frogs are croaking. 8C/46F. Visiting Cat is snoozing on a cardboard cat scratcher. Elderly Cat and Devil cat are snoozing on the couch. Charlotte and Jane are under the covers. Lord Byron reminding Dad of the dire sausage shortage. Have a fabulous day.
