I’ve been reading Durkheim’s dissertation on Montesquieu and Rousseau. I never realized the extent to which he distanced his program from utopian idealism: “they all have a single purpose: to correct or transform it completely, rather than to know it.”

The 8th “gentle reminder” email this week. Strongly considering setting up a mail merge that sends this Dean a separate email for each of my 160 midterm grades… just, y’know to demonstrate my “attention to this matter”.

I’m in my 10th year of IRB service, where I’ve fought tooth and nail to scale back some of the more asinine procedures at WVU that satisfy bureaucratic check-boxes while protecting nobody. It’s always two steps forward and two steps back. It may be time to allocate my service time elsewhere.

I’m slowing getting into running (slowly). The guided run programming available from Nike Run Club really works. Coach Bennett is like a personal Ted Lasso in my ear.
