Book 119, a great audiobook and a very fun big country house mystery, Murder at World's End by Ross Montgomery, one of my favourite children's writers in his first book for adult. Loved Miss Decima, will def read more in the series

Book 118, The Spick and the Span by Pil van Martin. His is a really fun middle grade fantasy adventure, I loved the world, the magic and the great cast of characters with an emphasis on found family

Book 117, another Diana Wynne Jones re-read and this is the last in the Dalemark quartet, The Crown of Dalemark. I love this book and the way it weaves together all the previous Dalemark books and characters

Oh no Lorna! I hope she's feeling much better soon, what a nasty shock though

Book 116, the novella Stargazy Pie, the first in the Green wing & Dart series by Victoria Goddard. There is so much crammed into this that it feels a bit over stuffed in terms of plot but the characters and world are great, I'll definitely read more

I don't know anyone else who reads this series so it's great to hear someone else recommend it, it's so weird and fun!

Aah we knew your boys were wonderful kids but they really are wonderful aren't they? So sorry for the ongoing woes and I hope that the worst of the leaks are sorted very blooming quick for you

Wait wait, have you read The Hands of the Emperor by Victoria Goddard? I think it's got the same "good person trying to rule well" vibe of The Goblin Emperor and it's also a *huge* book soni never feel I can recommend but I loved it
December 12, 2025 at 11:05 AM
I absolutely love that book - I've never found anyone else who's read it!! I've read it about 4 times, I find it such a comforting read
December 12, 2025 at 11:03 AM
Omg it's so fantastic isn't it? I went in knowing nothing and was blown away. I think Katabasis will be a great holiday-time read

I've decided to ask for physical copies of books I've read as ebooks but absolutely love so this year it is The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson (a humungous chonk so a bit more manageable on kindle but a book that completely blew me away when I read it this summer)

This question was because someone asked me what I wanted and I could do with a wish list, that's a great idea

Happiest of birthdays to you!

Book 113, Blob by Maggie Su. I loved the premise of this, a woman finds a blob outside a bar, takes it home and it develops sentience to become a human man. I really enjoyed the beginning but didn't like the way the story developed after that. I needed more blob, dammit
