the subtext of this feels very much like you’re calling me the n-word

how many blm signs do you have in your front yard?

youre right unpopular isn’t the right word. deeply unpopular would be the right phrasing

0.7% margin yet she’s the zohran of seattle and “leader“ of a progressive wave. interesting
November 13, 2025 at 2:09 AM
this is fan fiction, not journalism. the white progressive media eco-system (which you are part of) continues to dilly-dally around the fact that katie was an unpopular candidate who somehow despite running 25-60 points behind other progressives is now the next mayor of seattle.
November 13, 2025 at 2:04 AM
all that just to deflect from the fact that she wasn’t a popular candidate and somehow still pulled out a win. hmm i wonder why
November 13, 2025 at 1:49 AM
it’s really sad that no one talks about how a non-white woman with katie’s background and credentials would never be taken seriously yet katie is now the next mayor of seattle. interesting. can’t wait to see what funny (racist), irreverent and quirky headline the needling is gonna cook up next!

Wilson (+0.7) vs Foster (+26 against centrist incumbent Nelson) is a 25-point gap. Evans beat incumbent Davison by 34. In a progressive wave where everyone else won by 25–63 points, Wilson barely won. Are you gonna cover that, or am I gonna be writing the Wilson underperformance piece solo?
November 13, 2025 at 1:05 AM
i just noticed katie has only added ~13k votes so far primary —-> general. any thoughts on what’s happening with that?
November 10, 2025 at 5:29 PM
are we sure this election is following historical seattle election patterns for ALL candidates?
November 7, 2025 at 8:58 PM
Interesting. But if Thursday's progressive surge is just counting more of Monday's ballots, and those ballots are what gave us this 45/55 split, hasn't the surge already been measured? The pattern seems set, no?

I hear the standard you're setting, and it's the right one. I actually have a piece coming out in Real Change next week that addresses this directly. I'd love to hear your thoughts when it drops!

marcus, I respect you and loved your piece in the emerald, "what this mayoral election owes black seattle," but you expertly diagnosed the seattle times’s fan fiction for bruce harrell while refusing to see the same syndrome in The Stranger’s coverage of katie wilson.

beyonce js the blueprint! i’m always in awe watching her perform. i recently wrote a piece reflecting on how the myth of beyoncé has shaped our ideas of power, perfection, and black womanhood.
the crushing weight of being beyoncé
on myth-making, extraction, and the impossible standards we set for black women’s genius
