Definitely give it a shot. They take a while to fruit, a year at least. You need a spot that gets a lot of light. My plants get 8-10 hours or more of sunlight every day. Short videos online will show you how to start from a pineapple crown. The rest is basic plant care. They just need time.

I live in Atlanta so we get all four seasons in the same week depending on the month. This plant sits in front of a large South facing window so it gets sunlight all day long.
