A blog mostly about basketball stats and the Brooklyn Nets. In real life, I teach college and write about movies: https://letterboxd.com/ddibbern/
Well, a lot of what we Nets fans say on here this year will be tinged with the illogic of desperate hope.

Marks seems to want to hold out for two firsts... Seems in the realm of possibility.

I bet we might even become the tenth worst defense by the end of the year!

Drake looks like he's gonna be a really good defender someday. He's so intense! And Egor's tall. He's not very quick, but his steals and blocks numbers are pretty good so far. I have hope.

One of many, many problems.

They don't have any team chemistry yet. Thomas and Porter are reverting to hero ball. The rookies don't have any idea what's going on.

We have to believe in Egor. Because we have nothing else to believe in.... Except Drake Powell. Because he might become the most athletically fun player since Amen Thompson ...? Or Danny Wolf because he might become the best passing center since Jokic...? We've got nothing this year but fantasizing.

True. But last year, the pre-season consensus was that we'd win about 20-23. Then we traded Schroder and Finney-Smith, Cam Johnson missed 25% of the season and Cam Thomas missed 70% of the season, and we ended up beating out those predictions and winning 26.

They're probably right. I don't have time to listen to their podcasts. I wish they'd just post an article with their predictions. My numbers can't take into account the fact that we'll probably trade Porter. But then Jordi got the team to overperform last year.

The Toronto announcers were talking about how proud Dick is of his new goatee. Apparently, this season we'll all get to see the new and improved hairy Dick!

He's looked much more confident and professional than Traore. I have hope.

The epiphany I had when studying Russian years ago is that they pronounce their consonants with different tongue positioning than we do. It's not d-yoh or djo. It's just "d", but with your tongue starting in a position pushed forward against the back of your teeth.

Dr. Kimberly DiMattia, known to her Russian students as Kira, has a range of offerings for anyone who wants to "move the needle" on his/her pronunciation.

And if we trade Claxton, we could start Sharpe and Timme is the twin towers. With a lineup like that we might win 17 games.
