It is. Seems like it is always first to start greening up in Spring and last to finish though it does attract waaaaayyy more pressure from aphids than red Lonicera sempervirens we grow. But birds like to get in the obelisk and eat them and it marches on without us having to intervene.

I’m so Chicago I sometimes accidentally talk about my partner who grew up in Evanston as “new here”.

This little monkey has a double coat that is constantly renewing so everything is full of dog hair even when she leaves the room. 😆 Also worth it though. I grew up with sleek short-haired Dobermans and Greyhounds though so I didn’t know how spoiled we were.

Thanks! Trying to rest but the catalogs are pouring in reminding me it’s time to start sourcing new and cleaning saved seeds for winter sowing and growing for next year. 🤣

Thanks! She’s a good one for scent too. I don’t have much room so I have tried to go for high-scent roses as much as possible. This one is right by a walkway too.

Thanks for the kind words!

Sounds about right. Neighbor has resigned to letting them decline if it is their destiny rather than treat & replace at some point with something native (happier in her conditions & disinterest in heavy maintenance). Have been slowly sharing #NativePlants like Geranium, Mayapple, Jack-in-pulpit.

Thank you! Satisfying and worth the joy of harvesting and using water responsibly but definitely the kind of job where you have to put your overalls immediately into the washer and go directly to the shower. 😆

Forgot #February2Frost which I am most proud of as November creeps on.

I’m in Chicago and we have plenty still blooming including some of our roses, native perennials, and most annuals because the temps have been steady around 50s during the day and no frosts yet. Snow maybe this weekend though. Enjoy it while you can!
