I think a lot of people have mutual aid confused with charity on here, maybe because folks most often see it in the context of fundraiser asks (which are great!).

The idea of the wholesome nuclear family of the 40s & 50s is a farse used to entice disgruntled conservatives, and it never actually existed. It's a fantasy from the perspective of (white) men that sounds much nicer than just outright admitting they want control back.
