Kerrick, son of Yawgmoth. Legendary horror minion, two two for four and four Phyrexian black. Lifelink. Lets you pay 2 life instead of any black mana in an ability or casting cost. Gets a +1 +1 counter whenever you cast a black spell. The only life point that matters is the last one, live dangerously.

Yeah, the transbian furry likes the cat girl, shocker. Alesha Who Smiles At Death. One Red and two, legendary human warrior. Three two first strike, and when she attacks you can pay two hybrid black-white to return a creature with power two or less from the graveyard back to play, tapped and attacking. Aside from my love of Mardu and grave recursion, she's also Canonically Trans. I felt as seen by her as I did by Spike. Kerrick, son of Yawgmoth. Four and four phyrexian black. Lifelink. You can pay two life in place of black mana in casting costs and activation costs, and whenever you cast a black spell he gets a +1 +1 counter. He is everything exciting about playing black, a devil's bargain made flesh that lets you trade an otherwise-unused resource (life) for immense power, as long as you don't kill yourself in the process. His is probably my favorite Commander deck. He's also from one of the best storylines, Urza's Legacy, where he got stuck in a time bubble in Tolaria and iterated out the Phyrexian Negators. Scaled Wurm, seven and one green, seven six vanilla creature from the Ice Age. This was the biggest and meanest creature little Astrid encountered when she first started playing Magic back in 95. It's a terrible card by today's standards, but it's a meaningful window into where she came from.

Four cards to get to know me:
Spike, Tournament Grinder. Two and two Phyrexian black. Legendary Human Gamer, one one. Four Phyrexian black to tutor for a banned or restricted card from outside the game. The coolest thing about this card is they made Spike a girl! They made the tourney-player archetype a girl! Dark Depths, legendary snow land. Enters with ten ice counters, and you can remove a counter for three mana. When there are no ice counters, you sacrifice it and create Marit Lage, a twenty twenty flying indestructible black legendary Avatar. She is one of the last titans of the old guard of magic storytelling and I love her. Ihsan's Shade. Five five, protection from white, Legendary shade knight. He has possibly the best flavor text in all of Magic. "Ihsan the weak; Ihsan the fallen; Ihsan the betrayer. He brought shame to the Serra Paladins where none existed before. May his suffering equal his betrayal." It's so incredibly evocative, it tells us a whole story without telling us anything! I want to know more about this tragic figure and what he did and why and how it ended so badly! Ertai Wizard Adept. Two and one blue, Legendary human Wizard. One one. For two and two blue and tap, counter target spell. Before he became the monster we all know today he was the brilliant, arrogant young prodigy sent with Gerrard to save Sisay. He had a thing for Hannah and he learned and grew a lot on the Weatherlight. Then he got left behind during their escape and corrupted by the Phyrexians. And honestly he's here just because I too am an arrogant know-it-all with social awkwardness and a savior complex.

Magus Lucea Kane, Human Tyranid Wizard, at the beginning of combat put a +1/+1 counter on a creature. Tap to add two colorless mana; the next time you cast a spell or activate an ability with X in its cost, copy that spell or ability.

Phage the Untouchable, the sister of the barbarian-turned-druid Khamal, resurrected by the Cabal and turned into a weapon. Eventually she would merge with Akroma to become the false god Karona. Three and three black, Legendary minion creature, four four. When she comes into play, if she didn't enter from your hand, you lose the game. Whenever she does combat damage to a creature, destroy that creature and it can't be regenerated. Whenever she deals combat damage to a player, that player loses the game.

Hormagaunt Horde, a green creature card from the Warhammer 40K Worlds Beyond mini set. Art depicts a horde of toothed- and clawed-aliens charging toward their prey. X and one green casting cost, Creature Tyranid, 1/1 power and toughness. It has Ravenous, coming in to play with X +1/+1 counters and if X is 5 or more you draw a card. It also has Endless Swarm, meaning whenever you play a land you may pay 2 and one green to return the card from your graveyard to your hand.
