Overheard in the library today: One young man says to his friend, "What do you do? Wash your face in chicken grease? Talk about connect the dots!" The response was, "At least my elbows aren't as ashy as yours Grandma!" Couldn't even call out the bullying. The insults were too good. lol

After the Classic Fiction Book Club finished watching "The Picture of Dorian Gray" (having finished reading the story), they actually clapped! Cuties! And they knew Angela Lansbury not just as Mrs. Potts but as Jessica Fletcher!

One of last year's graduates popped in for a visit & told me that she started reading for fun last summer & made a conscious effort to continue to do so this past school year. We had a delightful conversation about all the fabulous titles we've read since she graduated. Love when this happens.

Wow! Just had a grade 11 student ask to borrow a copy of "Terry and the Shrew". Not even an EAL(English as an Additional Language) student. Just wow!

Not only has the Dollar Store calla lily I bulbs I bought a couple of years ago come back to life (I was only watering it because of the bit of spider plant that had rooted) but it's got a bloom! The students were laughing at me because I was so excited.

Grrrr! One of the grade 12s just sang The Smith's at me "And Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now". The good news is he was looking for a job and he found a job. :)

One of the Korean exchange students just gave me a "penny for my idea". 1st: this time of day not sure that the thoughts are worth that much 2nd: where'd he get a penny? They haven't been distributed since 2013?

8:01 this morning I checked out a copy of 1984 to a grade 11 boy. Who then wanted to talk about it. The library doesn't officially open until 8:30 and I hadn't had second coffee yet. These kids are keen!
