The article’s argument also fails to acknowledge that many employers (my last 5 included) only provide pretax benefits, *not* subsidy. But yes, let’s cry about how businesses might pay less from this move. I’m all for making big business pay, but not at the expense of people

It’s also a very American-centric belief which ignores the success that other countries have had in drastically increasing transit use while reducing end user costs, while also passing on the op costs to big business and suburban drivers

I’ve worked in predominately immigrant employed industries for the last decade and many are crushed by the cost of transit. Accessibility is shit so many have no idea about LIFT or monthly passes. If we truly want to help people, we NEED to explore alt funding and no fares

Urbanists (not calling out the lovely Urbanist website!) constantly complain about how bad the system is and how it needs to change, and then come up with the most basic non-solutions when it comes to reducing costs for the individual.
