Why “Cinnabar Miner”? It comes from a couple hours of my life when I drove out with the intent of finding some Cinnabar and actually found some and retrieved several pieces; which was founded on jokes I made about my annual flu shots, which I referred to as mercury tonics.

It’s a little discouraging to work on a neat new tune for a few hours and then realize you’ve written a song that already exists, matching the chord progression, beat and rhythm. And I didn’t even like that song. Ah, well, back to the fingerboard.

Someone got killed today swerving to avoid a deer on a nearby road. It reminded me of when I was teaching my child to drive and she was upset at hitting a raccoon on that road; I told her she impressed me because when it is you or the animal in the road, hit the animal.

I took the ISideWith political quiz just for the hell of it. I was pleased to see 85% agreement with Biden, although the top was actually Cornel West at 97%. Gavin Newsome and some other candidates showed up as 96%. Interesting. I’m not wild about West, but admit he is closest to my politics.

A lot is being said about our current political crisis. The only plan I have myself is to agitate people to vote for anyone on the ballot who isn’t Republican. I’m not a Democrat, I’m somewhere to the left of socialist, but there’s really no other choice now.
