According to WGA West, ALIEN co-creator Ron Shusett passed away August 29th, 2024.

In addition to crafting ALIEN with Dan O'Bannon, Ron also laboured for over a decade to bring his passion project Total Recall to our screens.

This set from "Journey to the Far Side of the Sun" (1969) is absolutely wild! The two characters seated in the front are part of a forced perspective set. The main reason being, those are not TV monitors but actors in booths. Fun blend of theater techniques and cinema trickery!

Douglas Trumbull, SFX photographic supervisor: "There was a slot in one of Jupiter’s moons, and if you looked down through it, you’d see another universe on the other side. So it was as if the slot was a kind of time-space gate".

As a kid in the 1970s I sat with my drawing pad everytime a spaceship appeared on Space 1999 trying to remember details to draw later on. In the days before video and freeze frame! Couldn't get the detail right on the Hawk as it was only in one episode. #Space1999 #GerryAndersonTV
