I came here to talk about movies and chew bubblegum. And I’m all out of bubblegum.
I watch *a lot* of movies but particularly Japanese cinema, and I’m slowly learning the language in hope of being able to seek out new discoveries.
I think a lot of people are so used to a particular style of (Americanised) translation that different styles can feel jarring. But that’s not a reason to not do them. I love to see more interpretation coming through in a time we’re fighting nonsense AI translations everywhere.

Unstoppable in which direction?

Remember when Quentin said he was going to make ten movies and then quit? Well I think he finally realised Kill Bill was 2 movies.

Maybe they could team him up with a young agent with a death wish? Licenced to be Lethal Weapons?

A much better idea than trying to ‘reinvent’ modern action movies again. Craig followed Bourne’s lead, now you’d be following… John Wick?
Take it back to old ideas of hi-tech, simpler action, and prioritise style without kitsch. Ronin, but in a beautiful world, would probably be what I’d aim for.

Hunger Games is closer to The Long Walk than Battle Royale.

Microsoft have purchased literally all the electricity that the re-opened three mile island reactor will produce for 20 years after it comes online in 2028, specifically for data centres and AI. It takes 5+ years to build one of those. They’re all after this, on every continent.

And web search is pointless if all you’re finding is results created by AI, which a staggering % of the web already is. It’s just human-centipeding its own shit.

Yes, actual studies done by actual people with actual brains, take time because accuracy is important.

I’m sure by the time actual studies have been done on the current model they will have an ‘improved’ one so they can claim all the old problems aren’t problems anymore.

The study was published 2 weeks ago. It was done on GPT 4o which is still in use, and was demanded to be returned by users when OpenAI removed it in August when it launched 5. But feel free to keep pretending this isn’t a problem that is actually happening.

Worth pointing out that ‘comparable to most of the best web LLMs’ would mean ‘makes shit up and passes off nonsense as citations up to 2/3 of the time’

They’re slop generators for dipshits, they’re ruining the internet, and forcing everyone to wade through mountains of shit.
ChatGPT's Hallucination Problem: Study Finds More Than Half Of AI's References Are Fabricated Or Contain Errors In Model GPT-4o
New study finds ChatGPT fabricates 20% of academic citations and introduces errors in 45% of real references, posing risks for researchers.

Do you mean you took the drawer so nobody would ever find them?

Path? I have ADHD. The path is ‘I haven t replied to that email for so long it’s easier to get a new job than deal with the awkwardness’.

The US still had Obama as president when they started, and the UK had Cameron. We’ve all aged 30 years since.

Definitely would have got some ‘ban this sick filth’ attention too. There’s a behind the scenes shot of them baiting Statham into doing his own stunt because it would be ‘gay’ to let the stuntman do it for him and it’s such a perfect microcosm of the time that allowed this madness to exist.

The greatest video game adaptation ever. Can’t imagine how much money they’d have made if they made it official and it had been released as a GTA movie.
