Saturday's screening of La Danza de Los Mirlos will be accompanied by When Cumbia Is On, a short film by Edinburgh-based director Paz Gonzáles. It follows the journey of Peruvian Cumbia as it transcends its Latin American origins to find a new home in Scotland. 🎸

Islands of Fire was directed by Vittorio de Seta, iconic Italian director of the 1960s, whose earlier work includes a number of documentary shorts of which this is one. Recently restored in 2019 by Cineteca di Bologna, now is your chance to see the film in all its beauty, as it was meant to be seen

The eruption of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano in 1985 resulted in one of Colombia's greatest tragedies. Jenifer de la Rosa was one of the children who survived and was later adopted. At 30, motivated by the possibility that her biological mother was still alive, she decided to investigate her roots.
